On the morning of April 21, 2023, Chairman Professor Shi Yuanyuan and Chief Scientist Professor Wang Jianxun were invited to visit the National Engineering Research Center for Key Common Technologies in the Cell Industry for exchange and discussion. Dr. Liu Muyun, Director of the National Engineering Research Center, and Dr. Du Xiangxi, Director of the Advanced Cell Intelligent Manufacturing System R&D Platform, extended a warm welcome and held symposium discussions.

During the symposium, the two parties introduced their respective team building status, development history, core technologies, and strategic positioning, and engaged in efficient and in-depth discussions on cooperation directions and models. Both teams expressed their intention to sign a strategic cooperation agreement as soon as possible, engaging in comprehensive and close collaboration in areas including retroviral vector production, fully automated cell product manufacturing, and professional talent training in the cell therapy field. They will further explore and exchange on core consumables and reagents, production facilitation, and new personalized models, strengthen linkages among cell industry enterprises and institutions in Shenzhen, achieve complementary resource advantages, and jointly contribute to advancing the development of Shenzhen's cell and gene industry.

About the National Engineering Research Center for Key Common Technologies in the Cell Industry

The National Engineering Research Center for Key Common Technologies in the Cell Industry is the only national-level innovation platform in China's cell industry field. It was approved to be established in Shenzhen in April 2022, led by Shenzhen Kenuo Medical Laboratory. It aims to build a key common technology supply system for China's cell and gene industry. The Center focuses on building eight major functional platforms: a novel cell and gene therapy technology R&D platform, an advanced cell intelligent manufacturing system R&D platform, a cell quality monitoring technology R&D platform, a CRO R&D laboratory, a CDMO intelligent manufacturing workshop, an industrial key materials and consumables R&D platform, a cell full-lifecycle management platform, and an industrial innovation talent training center. It also includes five major industrial facilities: a national cell bank, a pilot-scale base, an animal facility, a cold chain logistics hub, and a data storage and analysis center. According to the plan, the Center will be built into China's first national engineering research center in the cell industry that "connects basic research at universities and research institutions on one end with major market demands on the other." While committed to original R&D in cell and gene therapy, it will improve China's cell and gene therapy industry chain and supply chain and systematically enhance China's biopharmaceutical manufacturing level.
